Japanese government officials are responding to the revelations in the Panama Papers.

日本政府はパナマ文書において新たな事実がわかったことについて対応している。

They are putting together an action plan targeting corruption and bribery.

日本政府は汚職や賄賂を目的にしている行動計画をまとめている。

パナマ文書とは

パナマの法律事務所から流出した内部文書で、Tax Havenと呼ばれる租税回避地に

資金を移した企業や個人が明らかになった。

Tax Havenに資産を移すことは違法ではないが、それによって本来納めるべき税金　を逃れたり、汚職や犯罪の証拠を隠したりすることが起こりやすい。

特に税収不足は先進国が抱える共通の問題で、

公平な税負担による安定した税収入を確保するための方策作りが急務である。

G7 readers will announce the details when they meet in Japan’s Ise-Shima region for a summit later this month.

The plan is expected to include concrete measures against tax evasion.

One proposal is to disclose the names of people who set up firms to reduce their taxes.

The plans is also likely to include measures to help developing nations crack down on wrongdoing.

And it’s expected to call for greater transparency in contracts, especially competition heats up

OBAMA TO VISIT HIROSHIMA

In a long-awaited development, the White House has announced Barack Obama will visit Hiroshima.

長く待ち望まれていた、オバマ大統領が広島を訪問することをホワイトハウスが発表した

He’ll be the first sitting U.S. president to visit the city that was devastated by American atomic bomb in 1945.

オバマ大統領は在職のアメリカ大統領としてはじめて1945年にアメリカが落とした原子爆弾によって

壊滅的な被害を受けた広島を訪問する

それは念願であった核兵器のない世界の実現である

解説

アメリカ国内には原爆の投下は戦争を終わらすために必要だったという意見が根強くあるため、

大統領が広島へ行き謝罪したと受け止められると、国内で大きな反発を招きかねない。

政治的に難しい判断であった。
